Blimey we've had it 2 hours and he's offering you all out already ha ha. We had it easy loading it (4 blokes and a blanket - easy peasy) and it dodn't look that bad. However, once you look at it compared to the other 4 smaller stones you get an idea of its size.
Nice smooth sand like finish, just one flat spot and a flattened spherical feel to it which will feel strange but all in all bloody nice for a freebie (we gave Scott a bag of protein).

What grippers should i be looking at then? I don't really know anything about grippers, apart from the handles need to touch. LOL

check out www.wwfitness.com (it the weightlifters warehouse). They have the BBE and BBSE I use (the BB Elite is above a 3 and the BB Super Elite just under a 4). You should also look at www.rb-germany.com for Robert Baraban grippers. You'll want 260-330ip grippers in both narrow and standrd width.

Whats the price on it head now?
Mangered just under a 210 kg Lap today. As i say my stone is slippery as fcuk. This one sound like the tacky should stick like fcuk, instead of getting dust all over it.

Thanks for letting us have it. Here it is next to our 90-kilo stone. Good heavens, that thing's a monster. I reckon anybody who can lift that could claim to have the unofficial stone world record. I've seen footage of Travis Ortmyer doing a 520lbs stone (about 235kgs) but that's it. Not many people in the world, let alone the UK, that could pop that beast up...

Some of the heavier U.S. stones are granite which is both dense (hence a smaller diamater) and polished (at least until it's been dropped a few times). Stones vary in size and density (one way of making them heavier is putting lead shot, weights etc inside but keeping them to a reasonably liftable diameter). The Basque region of Spain has a strong stone lifting tradition and they have exceeded 250, 300 and even 350-kilos but their stones are shaped and have holds on them. I think that the issue with this stone is it's slightly egg shape - it's like a ball that has been pushed down from above as well as the massive weight. I have one hand lifted more than 251-kilos in training but that's using a special handle.
I think, at some point, I could round back lift it off the floor but not lap it and deffo not onto a platform. The one that does do it will be tall, long armed and very strong. Travis may well be the right man for that. It might be that whoever does it needs to tip it onto it's side and not try and get their hands linked but hold it like the Africa stones etc in WSM.

Shawn came down this rainey Monday night and did some event training with Mike and Greg. I was at home on the old PS2 when Mike knocks up and says 'come over with the camera'. It seems Shawn had got the stone off the floor and was up for another go. This is his second of three attempts - not bad at all for a stone that's 550lbs...
