So I clicked on the link the boys at www.wannabebig.com sent me so I can download a increase your bench program and having stuck around for at least 5 minutes see a thread with the same title as this one.
The starter asked why he'd been made to feel welcome in the power forum but was getting an ass ripping over with the bodybuilders. It was pointed out that most powerlifters compete and so are interested in pretty much fuck all else but the weight on the bar. For the most part the more weight the bigger you are but it has always been a lucky bonus rather than something that was looked for.
The BB forum, it was also pointed out, will be mostly made up of insecure teenagers. You've seen my WTF?? type post in the articles section wherein one quite serious topic was on what shoes to wear out without being pointed at. Sometimes serious and sometimes not are the 'vest - yes or no?' threads. The bonus ones are the 'I beat up a chav today' type wherein the poster forgets that makes him much like the duckhead he's slapped about - ie: some kind of thug to the mong on the receiving end.
I guess we all and I KNOW I do forget how we thought and acted back when we first became involved. Even now it is an odds on bet that the majority of gym users will be under the age of 21 and full of wind and piss. Most will not stay the course and when you have forum members offering advice, racking up 10's of 1000's of posts (and getting pats on the back for the same) and then almost whispering they've not trained for months... ahem. Worse still are those that finally get around to putting up photos and look like two kinds of shit in a sack. Yes there are SOME experts who don't look all that but should still be listened to but they are far and few between. Those who look like they live in the trenches and walk the talk, if not giants at least with some muscle, will get more attention and rightly so.
It's probably me age but my patience and being all nicey-nicey is nigh on gone. Of course that just might be me today.
