Yep it's another 'inspired by a post wot I saw' article.
This time it's some poor sod obviously suffering from some mental issue, possibly OCD possibly god knows what, blaming bodybuilding for his problems.
That he CHOSE to workout is missed. But what was perhaps a little worrying was the number that chimed in with issues of their own. Several chose weights over crime, drugs and the like (still leaves AAS et al) but others, perhaps attracted by the thread and so not actually representative, with obvious issues of their own.
The problem with said threads is this is the kind of shit and muck the media love. 'Oh look, I told you the meat heads aren't the full shilling' and worse.
Bodybuilders, those that work out with weights in any form, are no more or less obsessed, dedicated, what-have-you, than any other serious athlete. When I find myself asking 'why is he only 85-kilos?' I forget that not everyone wants to be 120+ kilos. When those that look down their noses at a bodybuilders lifestyle make such comments do they forget their own Sunday morning 6 mile jog? Do they think Olympic level athletes do a 9-5 training schedule or only train when a camera comes along? In truth many have jobs which require them to workout at 6am (earlier for swimmers) or late (8pm+) after work.
To then read of the very few who came with baggage at the very beginning and perhaps made it worse with the regimented style of training, diet and so on that some sports have and offer these up via the media as representative examples is annoying.
