So, thanks to the usual connections, old boys network and having competed with (and beat) the main man - Dr Tom Balchin - I am to be involved in an 8 week study at Brookes.
As I have said elsewhere my journey in the Iron Game started with dreams of being a beefy Mr O. A Dorian Yates, Bertil Fox or an Arnold. I never saw my trek making me a British and European Grip strength champ nor, as is now about to happen, one where I am part of a study at a Oxford University.
Three hundred a day for my troubles. I am sure, as always, I'll bitch for Britain about the traveling. As far as I can see the best option is out and back the same day. I'd prefer a cheap hotel the night before and a casual stroll in prepping me for it - treating it as though it were an event or competition each and every time. But neither trains nor buses timetables suit that. So it's up with the lark, an hour into Cardiff, then a fast train to Oxford. Even allowing for waiting I should be there in about four hours. Back here for around ten in the evening.
It's only 1 day a week (8 weeks as is for now) but I'll whine about the commute just cos I can Onwards.
