I'm new to this forum, so firstly I want to say hi to everyone. I've been training at the unit for the last couple of months and have been lurking here for a while. Great info and lots of expeienced guys here. Anyway, my first post is gonna be bad news (for some of you atleast). Arthur Jones, the founding father of high intensity training, has died today. There's more information on this site: www.logicbdj.proboards102.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1188307223I know he's not someone associated with the strongman community but he was definitely an inspiration to me when I got started in training.

I actually thought he'd popped his clogs a while back and now he has you'll see a lot of promotion of his ideas in the mags.

I heard he was really bitter towards the end of his life because of a lifetime of stupidity he had "endured". He got more involved with the medical establishment in later years, developing rehab machines for spinal problems.
Guys like Brian Johnston on the IART website have worked a lot on his original ideas, but yeah, I can definitely see articles dedicated to his training iideology popping up in the near future.

I heard he was really bitter towards the end of his life because of a lifetime of stupidity he had "endured". I seem to recall he may well have been like that much earlier never mind later in life. I've been accused of not suffering fools gladly but as you say it is a bitter taste.
