But they look ready. The string held on the weighted one- I looked earlier when getting my training gear.

I bet, it was pissing down all afternoon and i bet it takes a bit of getting used to pouring into the holes on the moulds. I'm on to my fourth day of not smoking now . I got some nicorrete gum the other day and decided to take the plunge and not wait for one of these new year resolution things as they are always doomed to fail.. So wednesday night, i just threw away what fags i had left and went for it. In the past when i had tried it i always had in the back of my mind, "it's too hard", but my missus said to me the other day, just after i had bent some nails and rolled my first frying pan, " if you put as much effort into giving up smoking as you do in trying to get PBs then you'd give up easy". I didn't think about this to much at the time, but a couple of days later when i was led in bed and my chest was rattling with the built up fluid and i was coughing myself to sleep it hit me, if i can go from nothing to putting up a good fight in my first couple of strongman contests in 7 months then givng up is fu(k all. And how much better could i have done if i hadn't been smoking in those contests, especially in the speed and rep events, where my oxygen consumption was severely hampered due to my crappy lungs, causing a lower performance than i could have acheived. And also all the money i would of spent on fags is going in a pot and as soon as it builds up a bit i will be buying more grip stuff, so it's win win all round.

Been at it with the angle grinder for a bit sorting out my vbar and some bending stock. My new vbar courtesy of Mr Cougar, cut to 24". ;D Some new bending stock including 3/8, 1/4 and 5/16 all in 7", 6.5", 6", 5.5" and 5", round and square. Then i had a quick go on a couple. A 5.5" 3/16 square and 5" 1/4 round, both done in under a minute.

I'm going to do some grippers, v bar and biceps tomorrow then I might attempt the 1/4 square or 5/16 round, but when I tried it the other day it wasn't budging but I downloaded Maximised bending and noticed a few places I need to improve on so I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. If I can start it then I think I can do it.

It was a piece of my new 1/4 square which looks the same as the fbbc square but I'll try the fbbc square on Thursday. Tried it last week and not a smiggen. Adjusted my grip and positioning and with much effort got the bastard.

Ball's Grinding
I went to Ball's Grinding today (great name), an engineering company, to ask if they do grade 5 and 8 bolts. They said that the G5 and G8 are American gradings but they will test the bolts I have's strength on a machine of there's and give me the British equivalent. They can also compare the FBBC stock and IM reds for me and measure those against the round and square stock I have. It's fortunate that the old guy who runs it used to like bending nails and stuff way back in the day so he's happy to do it for me. It seems what he doesn't know about steel isn't worth knowing. Good result

Very good and very, very useful. Keep him sweet and we might be able to help out other guys for a fee - nice way to make a small profit.

I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and slim down now as my bulking up days are over. No matter what diet combo i try i just can't tolerate the extra calories now. So much so my stomach has been rejecting the whey the last few days, both wild berry and unflavoured. All the damage the wheat has done has accumulated to give me one weak ass stomach. Good job i love the grip stuff as being a stumpy lard ass wouldn't have given me an advantage anyway ;D So i'm going to monitor my calories even more and adjust them to lose fat while maintaining enough to get productive workouts, put cardio into the workout and drop a couple of stone. I won't let it beat me so i have to make the best of it, i just can't put up with another night of pain and dead legs from spending hours on the crapper.

I don't think it was all the proteins fault as i had to come home early yesterday as i had a really bad stomach and was running a temperature, my head was feeling proper messed up like being back on strong anti psych drugs. I just crashed at half five and had told my missus to get me up for training but in her infinite wisdom thought it'd be best to leave me until i woke up at 10pm all disorientated and thinking it was time for work, getting dressed and moaning at her that she had let me sleep in I forced myself to go in today cus if i'm off sick i don't get my raise at the end of the month and i've got my eyes on some stuff I think i must have caught a bug and where my guts are weak it just knocked me for six but i'm feeling alot better now, drank 5 litres of water today and even did a bit of grippers at lunch time as i was so pissed off i missed training yesterday. LunchtimeGrippersNegatives #3 8x1 b/h Hopefully get a bit more in later, after all there's only 133 days, 5 hours, 21 minutes and 51 seconds until the BIG day
